Enjoy a broad role working end-to-end on mission-critical electronics solutions for harsh environments - including space. You'll thrive solving complex problems and own the entire process, with a collaborative team to brainstorm with when you need it.
Day-to-day you'll design, develop, and test electrical systems from schematic capture through to prototyping and production. As part of an engineering consultancy, you'll meet clients to understand their brief, then own it - doing the hands-on work of designing PCBs, working with manufacturers, testing and soldering electronics, all while keeping clients informed throughout.
Gain exposure to a wide variety of projects and technologies in a role where you're always learning something new. Feel genuinely proud of the solutions you find within tough constraints; navigating size, weight, and power trade-offs.
You may have a Mechatronics or Electronics/Electrical Engineering degree, or have solid hands-on experience but to really thrive, you have the following attributes:
Strong electronics development skills; first and foremost solid PCB design experience, with tidy soldering skills
Competent using an EDA tool such as Altium or KiCad
You've got enough runs on the board to own a project independently and document your work clearly
You have excellent communication skills and enjoy client contact; you’re able to help non-technical people understand how your solution solves their problem
You’ve worked in high-reliability engineering environments such as Aerospace, Agritech, or Medical Technologies where device failure isn’t an option
Ideally you have some firmware or software experience, such as C, C++ or Python
Asteria Engineering is a specialist consultancy building solutions for Space, Antarctica, Agriculture, and other unforgiving environments. In our ninth year and still growing, we're self-described space nerds who love turning seriously big-impact projects into reality. Based in Riccarton, Christchurch, we're a small tight-knit team with a genuinely inclusive culture.
If you're an Electronics Engineer with 2–5 years' experience, ready to own client solutions from brief to delivery, let's talk!
