Job Description

Job Title: Electronics Designer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Electronics Designer to architect and develop electronic subsystems for railway automation projects (rail and metro). The successful candidate will translate high-level subsystem requirements and architectural diagrams into detailed design artifacts, manage the full design lifecycle (schematics, simulation, PCB design, prototype assembly, testing, verification, and documentation), and collaborate with adjacent teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of the final system. This role requires strong hands-on experience in analog and digital circuit design, simulation, and board-level verification, with a focus on reliability and compliance in a safety-critical environment. The Electronics Designer will also provide ongoing technical support during production, installation, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate subsystem requirements into circuit designs and verification plans.
  • Design analog/digital circuits; perform schematic capture (Altium Designer) and circuit simulations (PSpice).
  • Create PCB layouts with emphasis on manufacturability, EMC/thermal considerations.
  • Build prototypes, conduct hardware tests, and execute verification/validation.
  • Produce comprehensive test plans, traceability matrices, and documentation to support certification and QA processes.
  • Document all design decisions, bill of materials, design notes, and release packages in English.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and system teams for integration.
  • Support production, installation, and commissioning; assist with field issues.
  • Uphold safety/reliability standards; awareness of railway standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in electro-electronic design for embedded or rail-related systems.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer.
  • Strong circuit design and simulation capabilities (analog and digital); experience with PSpice or equivalent tools.
  • Solid understanding of communication interfaces (Serial, CAN, Ethernet, and other relevant protocols).
  • Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller/FPGA interfaces.
  • Proficiency in FPGA design and implementation (HDL) for time-critical or safety-related applications, including development using VHDL/Verilog and integration with PLC/embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with FPGA toolchains (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus) and basic timing closure and verification approaches.
  • Experience with hardware verification, test benches, and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to document design decisions and produce clear English documentation (specifications, test plans, release notes, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with safety-critical or reliability-focused environments.
  • Familiarity with railway safety standards and certification processes (CENELEC or equivalent).
  • Experience with design for testability and design for manufacturability in high-volume production environments.
  • Prior involvement in system integration projects within rail or public transport domains.
