About Finapp SpA

Finapp SpA is an innovative deep-tech company and spin-off of the University of Padua, developing patented Cosmic Ray Neutron Sensing (CRNS) technology to measure water content in soil and snow.

Our sensors enable non-invasive, large-scale, real-time monitoring for applications including precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, and water resource management.

Finapp’s mission is to improve sustainability and optimize water usage globally—“preserve life by saving water”—through advanced hardware, data, and analytics solutions deployed worldwide.

Our products are designed to operate in remote environments with very low power consumption , often powered by solar energy and optimized for long-term autonomous operation.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Electronic Design Engineer specializing in mixed-signal PCB design and low-power embedded systems .

You will contribute to the development of Finapp’s next-generation sensing devices, working on hardware that must be robust, energy-efficient, and reliable in harsh and remote environments .

Given the on-site nature of hardware development activities, preference will be given to candidates based in Veneto or willing to relocate to the area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mixed-signal PCBs for embedded sensor systems
  • Perform schematic design, component selection, and circuit simulation
  • Optimize designs for ultra-low power consumption and energy efficiency (battery/solar-powered systems)
  • Ensure signal integrity , EMC/EMI compliance, and robustness in field deployments
  • Lead hardware bring-up, testing, validation, and debugging of prototypes and production boards
  • Collaborate closely with firmware and data teams to ensure seamless hardware–software integration
  • Support DFM/DFA and industrialization processes
  • Analyze field failures and implement corrective design improvements
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation (schematics, layout guidelines, BOMs, test procedures)

  • Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering or related field
    • Minimum 4 years of experience in PCB design for mixed-signal embedded systems
    • Proven experience in low-power electronic design , including:
    • Battery-powered or energy-autonomous systems
    • Power management, DC/DC converters, and sleep/low-consumption strategies
    • Strong knowledge of:
    • Analog and digital circuit design
    • PCB layout tools (Altium, KiCad, Cadence, or equivalent)
    • Signal integrity and mixed-signal layout best practices
    • Hands-on experience with testing, validation, and debugging hardware
    • Familiarity with laboratory instruments (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
    • Good understanding of embedded system architectures

    Nice-to-Have Skills

    • Experience in firmware development for embedded systems (C/C++, microcontrollers, RTOS)
    • Knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, LTE/2G/4G, etc.)
    • Experience with IoT devices and remote telemetry systems
    • Familiarity with environmental/industrial sensing systems
    • Understanding of regulatory compliance (CE, FCC, etc.)

    Soft Skills

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
    • Attention to detail and focus on reliability and quality
    • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and fast-growing team
    • Effective communication and documentation skills

    What We Offer

    • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge deep-tech hardware with global environmental impact
    • Contract Type: Permanent Employment Contract
    • Salary Range (RAL): €30,000 – €40,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
    • Collective Labour Agreement (CCNL): Metalmeccanica Industria (Italian Metalworking Industry National Collective Agreement).
    • Meal vouchers: €8 for each day worked on-site.
    • Participation in the development of innovative sensing technology deployed worldwide
    • Dynamic, international, and research-driven environment
    • Professional growth in a rapidly expanding company
    • Competitive salary and benefits
