Role Description

Amertate's hybrid wind turbine is entering its next stage of product refinement and commercialization, and we are expanding our electrical and energy management platform for large-scale deployment across the EU market.

As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will lead the research, evaluation, and integration of power electronics solutions that enable our wind turbines to operate efficiently in a wide range of customer applications.

Your primary responsibility will be to identify, evaluate, and validate the best commercially available controllers, inverters, possibly battery systems, and energy management solutions for different use cases. You will work closely with our engineering team to ensure seamless integration between Amertate's permanent magnet generator, wind turbine, batteries, solar PV systems, electrical loads, and the utility grid.

This is a unique opportunity to develop practical, scalable renewable energy solutions that will power the next generation of decentralized energy systems.

Your work will include:
  • Power Electronics Research & Development: Research, development and evaluate commercially available controllers, inverters, converters, and energy management systems to identify the most suitable solutions for Amertate's wind turbines.
  • System Integration: Develop and validate complete electrical architectures integrating Amertate's permanent magnet generator with batteries, solar PV systems, electrical loads, and utility grids.
  • Application Engineering: Design and optimize electrical solutions for different customer scenarios, including:
  • Wind + Battery (off-grid)
  • Wind + Solar + Battery (hybrid systems)
  • Wind + Load + Grid connection
  • Wind + Existing solar installations
  • Wind + Commercial and industrial energy systems

  • Technology Evaluation: Compare alternative technologies, manufacturers, and system configurations to improve efficiency, reliability, compatibility, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Testing & Validation: Perform laboratory and field testing of integrated electrical systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and validate overall system performance.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare electrical documentation, wiring diagrams, integration guidelines, technical specifications, and customer deployment documentation.

The skills you must have?
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in power electronics, renewable energy systems, electrical system integration, or industrial automation.
  • Strong understanding of inverters, converters, permanent magnet generators, battery systems, and grid-connected renewable energy systems.
  • Experience evaluating and integrating commercially available electrical components into complete energy systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to compare technical alternatives and recommend optimal solutions.
  • Experience with permanent magnet generators (PMG/PMSG).
  • Fluent in English
  • Based in Finland (only candidates located in Finland will be considered).

Nice to have (the following are a plus):
  • Experience integrating renewable energy systems.
  • Certification & Compliance: Experience with grid certification, electrical safety standards, IEC/EN compliance, and renewable energy certification processes is a plus.
  • Experience with hybrid energy systems combining wind, solar, batteries, and the electrical grid.
  • Familiarity with commercial inverter manufacturers and battery energy storage systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, CAN Bus, RS485, or Ethernet-based communication.
  • Experience commissioning electrical systems in real-world installations.

What can you expect from Amertate?
  • Work in an innovative and fast-growing green energy company .
  • Be part of a mission-driven team building sustainable energy solutions that matter.
  • Enjoy growth opportunities and hands-on experience across design, prototyping, and production.
  • Contribute to a product that’s already operational and ready for global scaling.
