As a Digital Hardware Engineer within our Electrical Research & Development organization, you'll contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge digital hardware platforms that power advanced healthcare systems. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you'll develop FPGA-based solutions, embedded hardware interfaces, and custom ASIC technologies that directly impact patient care worldwide.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to expand their expertise in FPGA development, embedded systems, digital electronics, and medical device technology.

You Are Responsible For

  • Designing and implementing complex digital hardware solutions targeting Xilinx and Intel FPGAs
  • Developing firmware using SystemVerilog and VHDL for high-performance digital systems
  • Integrating processors at the board and system level using Windows and Linux development environments
  • Designing firmware interfaces for external peripherals, memory devices, sensors, detectors, and system monitoring
  • Partnering closely with hardware, embedded software, and systems engineers throughout the design, integration, and verification lifecycle
  • Developing and maintaining firmware documentation, including interface specifications, feature documentation, and verification plans
  • Creating and executing simulation testbenches using Mentor Graphics Questa to validate firmware functionality
  • Developing automation and debugging tools using C# and Python to support hardware validation and system integration
  • Performing hands-on hardware bring-up, debugging, integration, and verification using custom development tools and embedded software
  • Utilizing laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, arbitrary waveform generators (AWGs), and related instrumentation to troubleshoot and validate hardware designs

This Position May Suit You Best If

  • Experience developing FPGA designs using VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog
  • Experience with Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or comparable FPGA development environments
  • Familiarity with Mentor Graphics Questa or similar HDL simulation tools
  • Understanding of embedded processor architectures and embedded software development for FPGA-based systems
  • Experience with standard communication protocols including:
    • I²C
    • SPI
    • RS-232
    • CAN
    • Ethernet
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python programming
  • Familiarity with C# for test automation or engineering tools is a plus
  • Experience developing reliable, maintainable code following software engineering best practices, including unit testing
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics
  • Hands-on experience using electronic test equipment for hardware debugging and validation
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • Experience working in regulated industries, particularly medical devices or FDA-regulated environments, is preferred
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 1–3 years of experience in digital hardware, FPGA, firmware, or embedded systems development
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional engineering team
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 5%)

The Base Pay Range For This Position Is

$99,930 - $137,401

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
