Job Description

The St. Thomas Center for Microgrid Research invites applications for a Computer/Embedded Systems Engineer position on a Department of Defense–funded project advancing the Tactical Microgrid Standard (MIL-STD-3071). This role is based in an academic research environment and offers a strong opportunity for candidates interested in pursuing or strengthening a career in academia, with direct engagement in cutting-edge applied research, real-world microgrid systems, and close collaboration with faculty and research teams working at the forefront of energy resilience and defense-related grid technologies.



Requirements:


  • Completed a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or other related field by start date
  • This project is funded by the Department of Defense and position is restricted to US persons ( US citizen, permanent resident (green card), or refugee/asylee).
  • Limited experience with micro-controllers, such as a Raspberry Pi
  • Linux/bash line experience, or a strong determination or motivation to want to learn
  • Intermediate level of Python and/or C/C++ experience
  • Experience with object-oriented coding
