About the Job


The Power Electronics Engineer will collaborate with product teams to meet customer requirements and applicable standards while managing costs and cycle times. This position will lead the electrical design process from concept to mass production for Trina Storage products and provide technical input on hardware and software system design. Additionally, managing budgets, schedules, and resources, conducting technical trainings, and analyzing competitor solutions to enhance market competitiveness are essential aspects of the position.


This is a remote position. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm Local Time. Regular evening or early morning (outside normal working hours) work may be required, for example to coordinate with our global headquarters based in China, or as other business circumstances dictate. This position is expected to travel up to 50% of the time, with some international travel, as needed. Visa sponsorship is not available.

What you’ll be doing:


  • Work collaboratively with product teams to fulfill the CRs (Customer Requirements) and/or meet applicable standards, including the associated cost and cycle time;
  • Lead the electrical design review of the entire Trina Energy Storage products for North America;
  • Lead the standard North American AC solution development from concept, testing& validation, certification and, and mass production of products, platforms, and solutions;
  • Define budget, schedule and resources needed,internal and external,associated with the product(s) development and lead them from the concept to mass production;
  • Ownership of the electrical-power electronics product documentation development and management for both internal and external audiences;
  • Provides technical inputs on hardware and software system design and capabilities cross- functionally;
  • Work in the team that lead the creationand maintenance of the technical commercial documentation relatedto the product in coordination with the differentstakeholders;
  • Support System engineers as a technical advisor in findingcreative solutions to address complexprojects;
  • Assist the System engineers on the execution of multi-generation product plans by summarizing and prioritizing emerging customer / market requirements and gathering competitive intelligence;
  • Design and conduct technical internal and external trainings on new product introductions;
  • Interaction with other key internal and external stakeholders such as R&D, supply chain, suppliers and industry trade organizations;
  • Optimize prioritization of development activities to maximize TES competitive differentiation;
  • Ownership of product-level cost models and leadership of initiatives to achieve competitive cost positions while balancing functionality and compliance needs;
  • Analysis of competitor solutionsand insights into what development is needed to increase differentiation or close Marketgaps; and
  • All other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management.


Your Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Power Electronics, Electrical or Power Systems, or another related field in Engineering;
  • Master’s degree in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering, is a plus;
  • 7 to 10+ years of engineering background in utility-scale electrical power systems, plantsautomation;
  • Minimum of 5+years of experience with power electronic design;
  • Minimum of 2+year of experience in BESS electrical design and integration with power electronics;
  • Excellent English verbal and writing skills, ability to speak Mandarin is a plus;
  • Must have the ability to travel domestically and international, up to 30% of the time;
  • Knowledge of Electrical and Power electronic international technical requirements like UL, IEEE, IEC, CEI, etc.;
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems and communicate results;
  • Ability to review contracts and technical requirements;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated mission driven project management experience and an advanced planning mindset to address schedule and resource constraints;
  • Knowledge of electrical design software (Matlab Simulink, Simscape, ETAP, Autocad, Autocad Electric) for electrical safety compliance analysis;
  • Possesses strong interpersonal communications skills to coordinate with diverse internal and external teams worldwide;
  • Demonstrates sound business judgement;
  • Takes individual initiative and works with minimal supervision while being a collaborative team player;
  • Works dynamically, across multiple international teams and projects concurrently, in a technical business environment;
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial drive for gettingthings done and a “whateverit takes” attitude
  • Experience in and knowledge of Agile development methods;
  • Demonstrated track record of managing a technical product with dispersed functional teams and a global supply chain;
  • Ability to utilize data and statistical analyses to inform decisions;
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a highly collaborative environment;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications; and
  • Enthusiasm for the Renewable Energy industry.
