Title: Automation & Robotics Engineer – Battery Swap Station | Blinq Mobility
Location: Gurgaon / Manesar
Type: Full-time, On-site
Start Date: Immediate
About the Company
Blinq Mobility is an IIT Delhi–founded EV startup building modular electric microcars with automated battery-swapping technology. We're redefining urban mobility through innovation, safety, and sustainable engineering, and have built and demonstrated India's first automated 4-wheeler battery-swap station.
Role Overview
We're looking for an Automation & Robotics Engineer to take ownership of our battery-swap station program. You'll inherit a working v1 station (sub-3-minute swap, validated on a live Vehicle) and lead the development of Swap Station v2, a universal, multi-vehicle station running 16 coordinated motors over EtherCAT, RS485, Ethernet with cloud telemetry.
You'll work cross-functionally with mechanical, vehicle electronics, and product teams to bring the station from prototype to deployment.
Responsibilities:
-
Own the full automation & electronics stack of the swap station, PLC ladder logic, HMI, sensors, actuators, and safety interlocks
-
Architect and implement EtherCAT, rs485, and Ethernet-based motion control (servo and stepper drives)
-
Design and integrate mechatronic subsystems: lead-screw lifts, battery carriages, alignment systems, and end-of-arm tooling.
-
Size and select drives, motors, and gearing via torque/RPM, load, and duty-cycle analysis.
-
Build cloud telemetry and remote diagnostics for fleet-level station uptime monitoring.
-
Define and execute commissioning, fault-recovery logic, and field-validation cycles on live vehicles.
-
Coordinate with mechanical, firmware, and vehicle integration teams to close out the v2 build.
-
Lead vendor sourcing and BOM costing for automation components (drives, controllers, sensors, structural).
-
Document the system end-to-end, schematics, ladder logic, HMI screens, and commissioning procedures.
Qualifications
:
-
B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, or related.
-
2–5 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, robotics, or motion control.
-
Strong working knowledge of PLC programming (ladder logic), HMI design, and industrial fieldbuses (EtherCAT preferred; CAN/Modbus acceptable).
-
Experience sizing and commissioning servo/stepper drives.
-
Comfort with electrical schematics, panel design, and safety interlock standards.
-
Bonus: exposure to EV systems, high-voltage safety, cloud/IoT telemetry stacks, or robotics frameworks.
Startup mindset, comfortable owning ambiguity, getting hands dirty on the shop floor, and shipping under timeline pressure.
