Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative
System Firmware Test Engineer
to join our Firmware QA team in Austin, TX. In this role, you will work closely with firmware architects and domain-specific validation teams to understand new firmware and system-level features, define end-to-end test strategies, and develop and execute comprehensive regression test suites.
The primary focus will be on
AMD Server-class EPYC CPUs
, with potential exposure to
Instinct GPUs
. The ideal candidate brings strong system-level debugging skills, firmware validation experience, and a passion for delivering high-quality, enterprise-class firmware solutions.
Top Skills & Qualifications

Minimum
6+ years
of experience in
firmware or software development/validation

Strong knowledge of
pre-silicon and post-silicon firmware/system test environments

Proven debugging expertise at
SoC (System-on-Chip) and system level
-
Solid understanding of
computer architecture
and
enterprise server platform features

Prior experience with
embedded firmware
-
Proficiency in
C, C++
, and scripting languages such as
Python, Perl
, or similar
Key Responsibilities

Partner with firmware architects and domain validation engineers to understand new and evolving firmware features

Define and implement
platform-level, end-to-end test flows
across boot and runtime scenarios

Develop detailed
regression test cases and test procedures
aligned with automation and CI requirements
-
Ensure test designs are
automation-friendly
and compatible with existing or new validation frameworks
-
Execute tests, debug failures across firmware, platform, automation, and infrastructure layers
-
Collaborate with development teams to drive
root cause analysis and defect resolution

Contribute to
test strategy, coverage analysis
, and system-level feature interaction validation

Participate in test infrastructure enhancements to improve
coverage, efficiency, and reporting

Experience or strong working knowledge in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

BIOS fundamentals (ACPI, SMBIOS tables)

Memory subsystem validation (DDR, persistent memory, error injection)

Platform security (TPM, Secure Boot, SPDM, RoT-based attestation)
System & I/O

Virtualization and firmware enablement (ACPI, SR-IOV)

High-speed I/O validation (PCIe, CXL)

Sideband protocols:

Academic Credentials

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred)
