Position: Sr. Hardware Engineer

Who We Are


Liqid is doing for AI infrastructure what VMware did for x86 servers, bringing the agility of the

cloud to the on-prem datacenter to dynamically allocate and share GPUs, memory, and other

resources. This functionality is critical in running AI and advanced-data workloads in production

(a.k.a. Inference). Liqid Matrix software enables global organizations to accelerate the adoption

of AI, HPC and VDI by unlocking the bottleneck of GPU utilization and availability through dynamic

pooling and sharing of AI resources for higher performance with less total cost, less power, and

less hardware.


About the Role


Liqid is seeking an experienced hardware engineer, with strong skills in digital and analog

circuits, configuration files for silicon communication chips, firmware, and chassis-level design. The

role is ideal for a knowledgeable hardware engineer who wants to have more ownership at the product

and system level.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design next generation chassis and accessories for PCIe and CXL products.
  • Work with ODM partners to specify and guide the design process of the products.
  • Own hardware features end-to-end, from concept through delivery and iteration.
  • Write microcontroller firmware to support initialization of silicon chips, configuration, and control/status functions.
  • Understand and socialize the operation of complex silicon chips (primarily PCIe switches, CXL devices, and other similar chips).
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, management, and software development team.
  • Contribute to best practices such as schematic review, layout review, documentation, and troubleshooting techniques.


What You Bring


  • 6+ years of proven hardware design work in PCIe or related field.
  • Understanding of on-board analog power supplies such as high-current 1.0V etc.
  • Working knowledge of I2C and other communication protocols.
  • Experienced in embedded systems and use of C for control/status operations.
  • Best practices when writing firmware, including modular design, source controls tools, and interface definitions for ease of use by other teams or systems.
  • Proven ability to work from loosely defined requirements and drive solutions independently.
  • Desire and experience in small team environments. This role provides the thought leadership for new designs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (python, bash, etc.)
  • Schematic capture and layout experience (Cadence).
  • Knowledge and experience with PCIe signal integrity (SI) and chip power integrity (PI).
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Python, Etc.)
