Job Description:
Position Overview: As a Firmware Engineer specializing in IoT devices, you will play a critical role in developing the embedded software that powers our IoT solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to create reliable, efficient, and secure firmware for a range of IoT devices.
Responsibilities:
1. Firmware Development: Design, develop, and maintain firmware for IoT devices, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
2. IoT Protocols: Implement and optimize communication to enable seamless data exchange between IoT devices and the cloud.
3. Security: Implement robust security measures, including encryption, authentication, and access control, to protect IoT devices from cyber threats.
4. Power Management: Optimize firmware to manage power consumption efficiently, extending the battery life of battery-powered IoT devices.
5. Firmware Testing: Develop and execute comprehensive testing procedures, including unit testing, integration testing, and validation, to ensure the quality of firmware.
6. Performance Optimization: Continuously improve the firmware's efficiency and performance, making it suitable for resource-constrained IoT devices.
7. Collaboration: Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and product managers to align firmware development with overall project goals.
8. Customer Interface: Partners and communicates with customers to understand requirements, define, develop, and transition solutions that meet operational needs.
9. Documentation: Create clear and comprehensive documentation for firmware design, implementation, and maintenance.
10. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve firmware issues and bugs, providing timely support for field deployments.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 2. Proven experience in firmware development for IoT devices, including embedded C/C++ programming in resource constrained environments.
3. Strong understanding of microprocessor architectures (ARM preferred), embedded systems (nRF microprocessors preferred), and real-time operating systems (Zephyr RTOS preferred).
4. Familiarity with IoT communication protocols and technologies, such as Wi-Fi, BLE, and cellular connectivity.
5. Knowledge of security best practices for IoT, including secure boot, secure firmware updates, and data encryption.
6. Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting hardware and firmware issues using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers. 7
. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development environments.
8. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
9. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with IoT platforms and cloud services
2. Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
3. Experience with low-power design and optimization techniques.
