About the job

At Atmo Biosciences, we've developed an ingestible gas-sensing capsule that measures gut health from the inside. With FDA clearance secured and commercial momentum building, we're now looking for a Senior/Lead Embedded Software Engineer to help us scale what we've started.

This is a role where your code reaches all the way from firmware to the cloud — and where what you ship helps clinicians diagnose conditions affecting more than 40% of people worldwide.


What you'll do

  • Design, develop and debug embedded firmware and software for medical devices under IEC62304
  • Architect and own software systems end-to-end — from concept through to production deployment
  • Integrate hardware and software components, and maintain deployed systems
  • Lead, mentor and coach software engineers on the team
  • Contribute to risk analysis and ensure compliance with quality standards (IEC62304, IEC62366, ISO13485)
  • Drive continuous improvement and help lift the team's technical capabilities

  • What you bring

    • 8–15+ years of software experience, with expert-level C++ and strong Python
    • Embedded firmware development and hardware-software integration experience
    • Hands-on with containerisation, DevOps, and Azure
    • Demonstrated experience in regulated medical device development
    • Strong electronics foundations and a talent for first-principles thinking
    • A degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, or similar
