Job Description

Summary:

VIAVI (NASDAQ: VIAV) is a global provider of network test, monitoring and assurance solutions for telecommunications, cloud, enterprises, first responders, military, aerospace, and railway. VIAVI is also a leader in light management technologies for 3D sensing, anti-counterfeiting, consumer electronics, industrial, automotive, government and aerospace applications.

We are the people behind the products that help keep the world connected at home, school, work, at play, and everywhere in between. VIAVI employees are passionate about supporting customer success and we welcome people who bring their best every day to the company - to question, to collaborate and to push for solutions that will delight our customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

In a context of accelerating infrastructure deployment by hyperscalers for AI and cloud applications, and with the emergence of new transmission technologies such as hollow-core optical fibers and multi-core fibers, VIAVI Solutions is developing test and measurement instruments dedicated to these new use cases.

Within the R&D Department based in Saint-Étienne (60 people), you will report to the head of the "Analog & Optical Electronics" group. As a technical project leader, you will be responsible for the development of optical measurement modules, and more specifically the design of electronic boards (analog electronics), performance qualification, and specification validation. In the context of our applications, knowledge in the field of optical components used in fiber optic telecommunication networks and/or in the field of distributed fiber optic sensing (temperature, pressure, etc.) would be an asset.

As part of the development of our measurement instruments, you will be involved in all phases of the project development cycle:

  • Analysis of technical requirements and proposal of the technical solution following request from marketing team.

  • Design and validation of electronic boards.

  • Integration of electronic boards in a multi-technology environment (mechanical, optical, and software) with other groups within the R&D department.

  • Definition of R&D adjustment and calibration procedures for production, in collaboration with the industrialization team.

  • Qualification and performance review to validate specifications.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • engineering degree in electronics (classical academic background preferred: CPGE / engineering school), you have experience in embedded electronic board design (ideally 5 years of experience, or a junior profile with a genuine passion and demonstrable significant experience).

  • Experience in the field of optics and fiber optic measurement would be a significant advantage.

  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills. Good communication skills, including in English, given the international context of our group and the normalization aspects of our work.

  • Autonomous and rigorous, you are also able to communicate effectively to work as part of a team across various projects.

  • Required skills:

  • Analog electronics and measurement acquisition chains (filtering, amplifiers, power supplies, analog-to-digital conversion, etc.).

  • Electronic schematic design (CAD tools such as Cadence).

  • Analog simulation (Spice).

  • Knowledge of optics and optoelectronic components would be significant advantage.

If you have what it takes to push boundaries and seize opportunities, apply to join our team today.
