Аbout ShellyWe make smart devices and push the boundaries of the IoT sector every single day. Shelly is a strong company with a startup mindset — no bureaucracy, just bold ideas, creative problem-solving, and a team that genuinely loves what they do.
We turn every spark of an idea into a real product — from first concept to full production — and bring smart automation to over 3 million households around the world. From heating, lighting, appliances, curtains, and more — if it runs on electricity, chances are we can automate it. We’ve built over 100 smart devices (and counting!), and everything happens right here at our headquarters in Sofia.

Senior Hardware Engineer
Your Role You own everything inside the box — from concept to certified, shippable hardware. You design, simulate, and validate the electronics that power our Shelly devices, collaborating closely with Product, Firmware, Mechanical, and Manufacturing. You balance performance, cost, reliability, and scale to deliver robust hardware people love.
• You bring senior‑level expertise across analog, digital, power, and RF for embedded/IoT products.
• You ground your work in circuit theory, electromagnetics, signal processing and you design and analyze sensors, actuators, and embedded systems.
• You are confident in selecting different types of components and analysing datasheet information, including packaging, mechanical, and soldering details.
• You evaluate MCUs and make platform choices as well as memory and IO (RAM and Flash, SPI, I2C, UART…)
• You design linear & switching power supplies and build energy‑efficient, battery‑powered solutions.
• You handle logic circuits, amplifiers, comparators, and serial comms with ease.
• You simulate and optimize for performance and manufacturability.
• You understand RF: antennas, amplifiers, filters, RF switches — and you’re hands‑on with VNAs and spectrum analyzers.
• You create schematics and multilayer/high‑frequency PCBs in CAD, define constraints, control interference, and optimize stackup, producing clean production/test documentation.
• You troubleshoot across proto, validation, and production and run effective pre‑cert tests.
• You know international safety and EMC/EMI standards and certifications (CE, UL, VDE).
• You partner with the Product Owner to define hardware requirements, scope electrical/mechanical constraints, and shape features and outcomes.
• You draft clear system/block diagrams, highlighting new features and reusable modules from existing products.
• You research and evaluate blocks, modules, and components; you test with dev kits or quick‑turn test PCBs, define simple test firmware when needed, and run simulations.
• You prepare concise reports covering performance, specs, risks, and cost trade‑offs.
• You create the final block diagram and schematics and align the GPIO map with the Firmware team.
• Using Siemens PADS Pro (Mentor Graphics Expedition) you design the final PCB (multilayer/high‑speed/RF) with constraint‑driven placement, interference control, and optimized stackup.
• You work with the mechanical engineer to check PCBA dimensions.
• You bring up and verify hardware against requirements — signal/power integrity, thermal behavior, and functional performance.
• You take an active part in the pre‑compliance testing (EMC/EMI, safety, RF) and own the complete process.
• You generate production documentation: schematic, BOM, Gerbers, stackup, pick‑and‑place, component maps.
• You support the factory with DFMA — optimizing placement, PCB size, and assembly.
• You compile all documentation required for external lab certifications and internal records.
• You troubleshoot production issues and returned devices and maintain a lessons‑learned database to strengthen future designs.
