A pioneering health technology company is seeking a Firmware Engineer to join its multidisciplinary team in London.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of software, firmware, hardware and laboratory science. You will play a key role in maintaining and evolving the internal tools that control lab equipment, sequence experiments and capture critical research data.

The role is hybrid, with regular time in the office essential for close collaboration with scientists, engineers and lab teams.

You will be a practical, curious engineer who enjoys solving problems across both software and hardware. You will be comfortable working in a fast-moving, collaborative environment and communicating with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Essential experience

• Firmware development experience using embedded C and/or C++.
• Experience integrating software with hardware via serial, USB or similar communication protocols.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across software, firmware and hardware systems.
• Experience using Git and modern version-control workflows.

Desirable experience

• Familiarity with AI coding assistants
• Experience with test-driven development and automated testing practices.
• Experience working with scientific, laboratory or research environments.
