Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Embedded Linux Contractor (Outside IR35) | Birmingham (Onsite) | 6 Months Initial Contract

We're partnering with an innovative technology company developing a next-generation consumer electronics product and are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Contractor to join their engineering team on an initial 6-month contract engagement. This product is the first of its kind in the world and is patent granted. Details of the product can be shared upon request but needless to say it's very cool!

📍 Location: Birmingham (Onsite)

📅 Interview Slots Available: From 19th June 2026

🚀 Start Date: 29th July 2026 (can be flexible for the right person)

💼 Contract: Initial 6 Months

✅ Status: Outside IR35

Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong Embedded Linux development experience

• Expert-level C/C++ programming skills

• Proven experience working with STM32 microcontrollers

• Experience developing low-level software, firmware, drivers, and embedded applications

• Knowledge of software architecture for connected embedded devices

• Wireless experience such a BLE/WI-FI

Highly Desirable:

• Experience implementing and maintaining Over-The-Air (OTA) update systems

• Background working on consumer electronics or connected products

• Experience with telemetry, device monitoring, and cloud data synchronisation

• Familiarity with secure firmware deployment and device lifecycle management

Modern Engineering Environment:

The client is a fast paced forward thinking company and as such are looking for engineers who actively leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality. Experience using tools such as Cursor, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI-powered engineering platforms is highly desirable.
