We're looking for a senior embedded engineer to lead streaming and connectivity integration on Linux and Android-based audio hardware (streamers, network players, AV devices). This is hands-on, deep work on real products that ship to discerning listeners.
What you'll do
-
Integrate streaming and connectivity stacks (Spotify Connect, AirPlay, Chromecast, Roon, DLNA) into embedded Linux and Android firmware
-
Own the core integration: SDK linking, event loops, build configuration, and on-device behavior
-
Bridge native C/C++ components into Android via the NDK and JNI where the platform is Android-based
-
Implement and debug network discovery (mDNS / ZeroConf) and connection handling
-
Work closely with the audio pipeline so playback is clean, stable, and certification-ready
-
Carry products through partner certification processes
You should have
-
Strong C in an embedded context, with real shipped products behind you
-
Solid embedded Linux experience (Yocto or Buildroot, cross-compilation, board bring-up)
-
Hands-on Android embedded experience: NDK, JNI, and the Android audio HAL
-
Comfort with the audio stack on both platforms (ALSA on Linux, AAudio / TinyALSA / audio HAL on Android)
-
Networking fundamentals: mDNS / DNS-SD, TLS, sockets
-
The discipline to work against sparse documentation and strict, unforgiving requirements
Nice to have
-
You've shipped a connected audio product before (wireless speaker, streamer, receiver)
-
Experience with streaming integrations like Spotify Connect, AirPlay, or Chromecast
-
Familiarity with hardware certification programs
The details
Part-time. Remote-friendly. Project-based to start, with room to grow as our product work does. Tell us what you've built and, ideally, point us at something that's actually in people's homes.
We are interested if you know only Android or Linux audio, knowing both is a big plus.
