Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead or Senior Electronics Engineer to play a key role in the development of world-leading smart Dash Cam technology. You will design, simulate, debug and validate the electronic systems and circuits that power Nextbase products, helping to shape both current and future generations of connected in-car technology.

Working closely with hardware, software, product and manufacturing teams, you will solve complex engineering challenges, evaluate prototypes, improve product performance and support EMC compliance. You will also have the opportunity to influence technology decisions, develop novel solutions and see your work progress from concept through to mass production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering, product, production and supplier teams to evaluate Dash Cam prototypes, validate designs and improve product performance.
  • Design and implement new technologies that will help shape future Nextbase camera product releases.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly through reports, reviews and feedback for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and work with colleagues to resolve complex hardware issues and enhance camera design.
  • Develop, document and maintain research, test and validation methods that support robust product development.
  • Partner with design teams to create and deliver effective validation plans for new and existing products.
  • Carry out functional verification of electrical systems to ensure quality, reliability and performance.
  • Debug, tune and optimise PCB hardware on the bench, in the laboratory and in real vehicle environments.
  • Support EMC compliance through product-specific reviews and annual range checks.
  • Create prototype PCBs and microsystems to support rapid local testing and proof-of-concept work.

Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Significant relevant experience, typically gained across 8–10 years in electronics or hardware engineering roles.
  • Experience taking products through the full lifecycle, from concept and prototype through to mass production.
  • Strong schematic capture and PCB design experience using Altium Designer or similar tools.
  • Practical experience with EMC compliance testing and design considerations.
  • Experience with high-density and high-speed circuit board design, bring-up and validation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product and external partner teams.
  • Strong failure analysis, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in a laboratory environment.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, bench testing and practical validation methodologies.
  • Confidence working in a laboratory setting with test equipment, prototypes and engineering samples.
  • Strong self-organisation, ownership and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to deliver to tight schedules while collaborating closely with global third-party partners.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working both independently and as part of a high-performing team.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional global travel.

Desirable:

  • Experience in video technology, imaging, connected devices or consumer electronics.
  • Experience working with global engineering, manufacturing or supplier teams.
  • High-speed design experience, such as DDR3/4/5, MIPI, SERDES, USB, PCIe or HDMI.
  • RF circuit design experience, including impedance matching, antenna design or antenna tuning.

  • Competitive salary.
  • Salary Sacrifice schemes.
  • Family Private Medical Insurance, with medical history disregarded, plus Medicash Health Cash Plan.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Life Assurance.
  • Company Pension.
