Job Description

A growing technology company in the medical device and healthcare space is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to lead the design, development, verification, and support of complex electronic hardware used in innovative products. This role will play a key part throughout the hardware development lifecycle, including architecture definition, circuit design, board-level implementation, verification, troubleshooting, and sustaining engineering.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in analog and digital electronics, thrive in a cross-functional environment, and contribute to the development of reliable, high-quality products in a regulated industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of analog and digital electronic circuits for advanced technology products.
  • Own hardware development activities throughout the engineering lifecycle, including architecture, schematic design, implementation, verification, and sustaining support.
  • Support PCB and flex circuit design activities, including schematic capture and collaboration with layout engineers.
  • Develop, document, execute, and analyze board-level and system-level verification testing.
  • Perform electrical design calculations, tolerance analysis, and performance evaluations.
  • Define board-level and system-level performance requirements for assigned projects.

Verification & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot complex electrical issues at the component, board, and system levels.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Support product and component failure analysis activities.
  • Verify hardware designs meet functional, reliability, and compliance requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with software, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams to integrate hardware into finished products.
  • Support the selection, evaluation, and qualification of electronic components and subsystems, including displays, touch interfaces, batteries, and custom assemblies.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical leadership throughout project milestones.
  • Manage technical deliverables, timelines, and project commitments for assigned hardware initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in electronics design, development, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong expertise in both analog and digital circuit design.
  • Experience with schematic capture tools such as Altium, OrCAD, PADS, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting PCB layout, board bring-up, and high-speed hardware designs.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills utilizing standard electronic test and measurement equipment.
  • Experience working with embedded systems and supporting firmware during hardware bring-up.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, and USB.
  • Understanding of the complete product development lifecycle from concept through production.
  • Strong analytical, technical problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work onsite in Orange County, California.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing products within medical device, healthcare, aerospace, automotive, or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with product safety and compliance standards.
  • Experience with EMC/EMI design considerations, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity concepts.
  • Experience with electrical simulation tools such as PSpice, Multisim, or equivalent.
  • Programming experience in C for embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB or similar engineering analysis tools.
  • Exposure to embedded Linux environments.
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $130,000–$170,000 plus bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be based on experience, technical expertise, education, and overall qualifications.
