About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation & Robotics Engineer to support advanced manufacturing automation projects within a global automotive environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with expertise in robotics, controls, laser welding, and manufacturing quality systems.

The position involves close collaboration with international teams and requires regular travel to Japan, including the potential for extended stays.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and optimization of automated manufacturing systems.
  • Support robotic integration, programming, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
  • Provide technical expertise in laser welding applications involving thin-gauge materials.
  • Develop and support controls architecture for automated equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Participate in equipment commissioning, validation, and production launches.


Qualifications

  • Strong background in robotics, automation, and controls engineering.
  • Experience with laser welding processes for thin materials.
  • Understanding of manufacturing quality assurance and process validation.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and automated production systems.
  • Familiarity with Mitsubishi and/or Keyence platforms is preferred.


Preferred Experience

Experience with Japanese automotive manufacturers or suppliers, including Toyota, Aisin, or similar organizations, is highly desirable.

Travel

  • Significant travel to Japan required.
  • Extended stays may be necessary during key project phases.
