Job Description

🚀 We’re Hiring:

We are KOSTAL Engineering s.r.o , an established R&D-focused engineering company specializing in the development of automotive electronic control units. Our Prague-based team works on power electronics systems, including On-Board Chargers (OBC, 7.2–22 kW) and DC/DC converters .

We are seeking a Control-Loop Software Engineer to design and develop control systems for power electronics applications such as power factor correction (PFC) stages and DAB-based DC/DC converters. You will work across the full development cycle—from modeling and simulation to validation —with the opportunity to take full end-to-end ownership, including hands-on testing on real hardware .

🔧 What You’ll Do

  • Develop and refine mathematical models of power electronic converters for model-based control design
  • Design, implement and optimize digital control algorithms for PFC and DC/DC systems
  • Perform simulation and analysis of closed-loop control systems using MATLAB and Simulink
  • Evaluate system robustness and dynamic performance (e.g., frequency response, stability margins)
  • Support experimental validation on hardware in the lab when applicable
  • Own and drive full control loop development, with the opportunity to grow into end-to-end ownership

🎯 What We’re Looking For

  • Strong understanding of control theory and feedback systems
  • Familiarity with MATLAB / Simulink
  • Understanding of analog circuits and analysis methods
  • Experience with embedded C/C++ programming

⭐ Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Basic knowledge of electronic circuits (e.g. SMPS, PFC concepts),
  • Experience with digital control and embedded systems
  • Interest in bridging modeling, control design, and real hardware behavior
  • Familiarity with tools such as PLECS, SPICE-based tools, TPT, or MXAM

⚡ What You’ll Get

  • R&D-focused environment within an established engineering company
  • Responsibility for full control loop development
  • Work on real automotive power electronics systems (OBC and DC/DC converters)
  • Opportunity to test and validate control designs on real hardware
  • Hybrid work setup based in Prague, with flexibility

🎁 Benefits

  • Flexible working hours and strong work–life balance
  • 5 weeks of annual leave
  • Retirement savings contribution
  • Recognition of seniority and experience
  • Meal allowance
  • MultiSport card
  • Covered parking (car / motorbike / bicycle)
  • Regular healthy breakfasts and team events
  • Free hot and cold beverages in the office
  • Bicycle shower facilities
