Job Description

About Neuromech Systems

Neuromech Systems is a specialist deployment firm focused on autonomous mobile robots, autonomous forklift trucks, PLC engineering, and industrial systems integration. We help manufacturers and automation integrators deploy reliable AMR and AFT systems from initial site assessment through production hand-off.

Our work includes robotic fleet configuration, mapping, route design, PLC-to-robot integration, MES/WMS connectivity, commissioning, operator training, and post-launch optimization.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Robotics Engineer to support AMR and AFT projects at customer sites, including automotive manufacturing and industrial facilities.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working on the plant floor, solving real-world automation problems, and turning robotic hardware into safe, reliable, production-ready systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, integrate, test, and commission AMR and AFT systems at customer sites.
  • Translate customer requirements, plant layouts, and material flow needs into practical robotic system solutions.
  • Configure maps, routes, missions, zones, traffic rules, pick/drop locations, and fleet manager settings.
  • Support integration with PLCs, conveyors, lifts, doors, machine cells, dock equipment, MES, WMS, and other plant systems.
  • Develop and troubleshoot PLC-to-AMR/AFT handshakes, station signaling, call buttons, ready signals, interlocks, and pick/drop confirmations.
  • Perform system testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and optimization during FAT, SAT, commissioning, and production ramp-up.
  • Support safety reviews, FMEA, hazard analysis, and customer-specific safety acceptance processes.
  • Create test procedures, work instructions, commissioning checklists, sequence documents, and technical documentation.
  • Train operators, maintenance teams, and customer engineering teams.
  • Provide on-site and remote support for active deployments and post-launch improvements.
  • Collaborate with customers, OEMs, integrators, and internal project teams to keep projects on schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent hands-on experience may also be considered.
  • Experience with industrial automation, robotics, controls, material handling, or manufacturing systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electromechanical systems, controls, networks, and software.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, controls schematics, layouts, sequence documents, and technical manuals.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with customers, operators, technicians, engineers, and project managers.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites.
  • Ability to work safely and independently in fast-paced manufacturing environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

  • AMR or AFT platforms such as OTTO Motors, KUKA AMR, VisionNav, Oceaneering, Gideon, JBT, MiR, or similar systems.
  • AMR mapping, SLAM, fleet management, route design, traffic tuning, missions, jobs, and zones.
  • Autonomous forklift workflows including pallet handling, trailer loading/unloading, dock operations, and narrow-aisle navigation.
  • PLC programming or troubleshooting using Rockwell / Allen-Bradley, Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff TwinCAT, or similar platforms.
  • Industrial protocols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, or VDA 5050.
  • HMI/SCADA platforms such as FactoryTalk, Ignition, WinCC, or similar systems.
  • Programming experience in Python, C++, C#, JavaScript, Java, or similar languages.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a practical, hands-on engineer who can own technical problems from investigation through resolution. The right candidate is comfortable on the plant floor, communicates clearly with customers, documents their work, and takes pride in delivering automation systems that are safe, reliable, and production-ready.

Why Join Neuromech Systems

  • Work on real AMR and AFT deployments in industrial environments.
  • Gain experience across multiple robotics platforms instead of being limited to one vendor.
  • Work at the intersection of robotics, PLC controls, systems integration, and manufacturing operations.
  • Support high-impact projects for manufacturers, integrators, and automation companies.
  • Join a growing company focused on making robotic fleets productive, safe, and on schedule.

Additional Information

This role requires regular travel to customer sites and may include work on manufacturing floors, warehouses, automotive plants, and industrial facilities. Candidates must be comfortable following customer safety requirements, wearing required PPE, and supporting commissioning activities during production or off-shift windows when needed.

Neuromech Systems is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status under applicable law.
