Job Description

About Lumiinous

Lumiinous is a startup developing an AI-powered companion robot designed to provide emotional support, self-care reminders, and meaningful conversations. Our mission is to create technology that helps people feel more connected, supported, and understood. We are seeking a Robotics Engineer to join our team and help bring our robot platform from beta testing to commercial readiness.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Robotics Engineer role based in Houston, TX. Lumiinous is building Lumii, an AI-powered companion robot, and is looking for a hands-on engineer to support its development across embedded systems, robotics, electronics integration, software development, and rapid prototyping.

You will develop and improve the core software and embedded systems powering Lumii, including firmware development, hardware-software integration, system debugging, and new feature implementation. The role also includes hands-on assembly of prototypes and beta units, working with mechanical components, wiring, and full system builds.

You will work closely with the founder and engineering team to troubleshoot issues, implement new capabilities, and improve system performance and reliability.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems across hardware and software and wants to contribute to an early-stage consumer robotics product in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in robotics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • Strong programming experience in Python, C++, or similar languages
  • Hands-on experience with embedded systems (Raspberry Pi, ESP32, Arduino, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of hardware-software integration and debugging
  • Experience working on robotics, IoT, or embedded systems projects
  • Strong problem-solving and systems thinking abilities
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills
