Comtec Australia is growing, and we are looking for a hands-on
Automation & Robotics Engineer / Mechatronics & Applications Engineer
to join our Melbourne team.
This is a practical engineering role working with advanced automation, robotics, flexible feeding, machine vision, EOAT, industrial machinery and custom-engineered solutions.
You will be involved in projects from concept and design through to assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting and customer support.
What you’ll work on

Automation system design and development

Robotic EOAT, fixtures and custom components

CAD design, 2D drawings and 3D models
-
PLC support, troubleshooting and system integration
-
Proof-of-concept testing and demonstrations
-
Robotic systems, automation cells and demo equipment
-
Commissioning and technical support at customer sites
-
Electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical fault finding
-
Risk assessments, manuals and technical documentation
About you
We are looking for someone practical, technical and motivated, with experience across automation, robotics or manufacturing machinery.
The ideal candidate will have:

5+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotics or manufacturing equipment

Qualification in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, automation or a related engineering discipline

Strong CAD and engineering design capability

Ability to read mechanical, electrical and pneumatic drawings

Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
-
Good communication skills and confidence working with customers

Current Australian driver’s licence

Full Australian working rights
Desirable experience

PLC programming

Robot programming and commissioning

Machine vision systems

C++, Python, MATLAB, Simulink or LabVIEW

Electrical wiring and machine assembly
