Salary: $120,000 to $140,000 per year
Comtec Australia is growing, and we are looking for a hands-on Automation & Robotics Engineer / Mechatronics & Applications Engineer to join our Melbourne team.
This is a practical engineering role working with advanced automation, robotics, flexible feeding, machine vision, EOAT, industrial machinery and custom-engineered solutions.
You will be involved in projects from concept and design through to assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting and customer support.
- Automation system design and development
- Robotic EOAT, fixtures and custom components
- CAD design, 2D drawings and 3D models
- PLC support, troubleshooting and system integration
- Proof-of-concept testing and demonstrations
- Robotic systems, automation cells and demo equipment
- Commissioning and technical support at customer sites
- Electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical fault finding
- Risk assessments, manuals and technical documentation
We are looking for someone practical, technical and motivated, with experience across automation, robotics or manufacturing machinery.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotics or manufacturing equipment
- Qualification in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, automation or a related engineering discipline
- Strong CAD and engineering design capability
- Ability to read mechanical, electrical and pneumatic drawings
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Good communication skills and confidence working with customers
- Current Australian driver’s licence
- Full Australian working rights
- PLC programming
- Robot programming and commissioning
- Machine vision systems
- C++, Python, MATLAB, Simulink or LabVIEW
- Electrical wiring and machine assembly
- Machine safety and risk assessments
