Quantum Research Scientist - Quantum AI


QpiAI | Research & Algorithms

QpiAI is looking for a Quantum Research Scientist to develop quantum information driven AI methods, hybrid learning algorithms, and deployable research prototypes for enterprise and scientific applications.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop proprietary Quantum AI algorithms grounded in quantum information theory, quantum statistical learning, and hybrid quantum-classical computation.
  • Design learning models based on quantum states, measurements, channels, embeddings, information geometry, and variational principles.
  • Build quantum AI methods for classification, regression, generative modeling, representation learning, optimization, scientific ML, and decision intelligence.
  • Analyze trainability, expressivity, entanglement structure, generalization, noise sensitivity, and advantage conditions of quantum learning models.
  • Develop hardware-aware research prototypes with noise modeling, error mitigation, shot-efficient training, measurement optimization, and resource-aware execution.
  • Collaborate with AI, quantum software, hardware, and application teams to translate research into reusable product modules.
  • Create patents, publications, invention disclosures, benchmarks, and technical reports.

Required Skills

  • Strong foundations in quantum information, quantum mechanics, linear algebra, probability, optimization, and machine learning.
  • Ability to work with density matrices, entropy, mutual information, fidelity, trace distance, entanglement, quantum Fisher information, POVMs, and quantum channels.
  • Experience developing variational quantum learning models, quantum kernels, quantum generative models, and quantum-inspired AI methods.
  • Strong programming ability in Python and practical experience with AI/ML and open-source quantum software frameworks.
  • Understanding of NISQ constraints, open-system effects, noise-aware training, and benchmarking methodology.
  • Ability to convert enterprise or scientific problems into rigorous quantum AI research formulations.

Qualifications

  • MS/Ph.D. in Physics, Quantum Information, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, AI/ML, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of research experience in quantum algorithms, quantum AI, quantum machine learning, scientific AI, or quantum simulation.
  • Strong record demonstrated through publications, patents, open-source contributions, research prototypes, or applied projects.
  • Excellent technical communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
