£30 - £42 per hour

North London | On site (4-5 days a week)

We're working with a VC backed medical device developing a product that has the potential to transform the way preventative and early warning healthcare is delivered.

They're looking for a hands on Software Engineer to help improve and maintain an internal platform that sits at the heart of their research and development operation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the intersection of software, firmware and hardware, collaborating directly with scientists and engineers to solve real world technical challenges.

What you'll be doing

• Enhancing a Python application used to control laboratory hardware and capture experimental data.
• Debugging hardware communication and resolving software and firmware issues.
• Building new features that improve usability, reliability and performance.
• Working closely with scientists to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.
• Improving testing, logging and long term maintainability of the platform.

We're looking for someone with

• Strong Python development experience.
• Embedded C or C++ firmware experience.
• Experience interfacing with hardware using serial, USB or similar communication protocols.
• Excellent debugging skills across both software and hardware.
• Experience with Git and modern software development practices.

Experience working with laboratory equipment, scientific instrumentation, robotics, industrial automation or other hardware focused environments would be highly advantageous.

This is an ideal contract for someone who enjoys solving practical engineering problems, working closely with end users and seeing the direct impact of their work in a fast moving startup environment.
