Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications.

We are seeking a Project Officer or Research Assistant to support our research and testing initiatives in power electronics for medium-voltage grid-connected applications. These research efforts align closely with the university’s strategic goals toward building more sustainable societies.
Key Responsibilities

Support IT integration of laboratory test equipment (power supplies, converters, sensors, data acquisition systems) with local and remote monitoring systems.

Assist in modifications, upgrades, and maintenance of remote dashboards used for experiment monitoring and control.

Design and develop dashboard widgets for real-time and post-processed data visualization.

Implement and improve data representation methods (graphs, charts, trends, alerts) for experimental and performance data.

Support testing activities, including system setup, connectivity troubleshooting, logging, and validation of data integrity.

Work closely with researchers and engineers to translate experimental requirements into IT and software solutions.

Maintain documentation for dashboards, interfaces, configurations, and test setups.

Work closely with cross-functional teams including procurement, finance, and safety to support project delivery and compliance.

Contribute to research proposals, research disseminations, and project deliverables.

Support laboratory activities, including equipment maintenance, procurement, and administrative tasks.
Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering, or electrical engineering or information systems.

Experience with IT systems integration, instrumentation interfaces, and data communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, serial, Ethernet-based instruments).

Familiarity with dashboard development, data visualization tools, or web-based UI frameworks.

Basic understanding of power electronics laboratory environments is an advantage.

Ability to troubleshoot hardware–software interaction issues in a research setting.

Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, cross-functional teams, and fast-paced research environment.
