Job Description

Product & Systems Engineer (Hardware & Embedded Systems)

Part-Time Core Team Member for InnoExplorer 2027 (1–2 days/week)

Location: H ybrid Copenhagen / remote

About the Venture

A workplace well-being technology for stress reduction. Combining purpose-built hardware with software that captures user data, analytics and reporting to create measurable outcomes for individuals and organisations. A V3 prototype is currently under development. The next stage focuses on refining, stabilising, and productising the system for real-world testing, pilot deployments, and early commercial readiness. The role sits within an InnoExplorer-supported venture for one year with possibility to extend.

The Role

Seeking a hands-on Product & Systems Engineer to take ownership of improving and evolving an existing V3 hardware-software system into a reliable, deployable product.

The focus is not initial prototype creation, but on engineering improvement, system integration, and productisation. You will work closely with the founder and commercial lead to refine performance, improve reliability, and prepare the system for real-world deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Iterate an existing V3 hardware-software system
  • Identify and resolve system-level issues inc. improve reliability, power stability, and signal integrity (Bluetooth, RF, Wi-Fi etc)
  • Refine hardware–software integration and embedded system performance
  • Enhance mechanical design, enclosure performance, and physical robustness
  • Address vibration, acoustic coupling, and environmental variability
  • Ensure manufacturability of hardware
  • Contribute to CE readiness and compliance regulations
  • Translate real-world piloting feedback into engineering improvements
  • Work in iterative cycles of testing, refinement, and validation

The ideal candidate can take an existing prototype and improve it into a robust, reliable, and scalable product. You are a systems-thinking engineer who enjoys working across hardware, embedded systems, and real-world product constraints. You have experience iterating hardware-software products using real-world data.

Your prior experience has been working with one or more of:

  • Mechatronics, electronics, embedded systems, or related fields
  • Hardware systems involving sensors, RF, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, acoustics and low-power devices
  • Proven ability to debug and improve hardware–software systems
  • Iterative prototyping of manufacturable designs

Personal Qualities

  • Entrepreneurial, self-directed and conscientious
  • Strong systems thinker who sees how components interact
  • Pragmatic, execution-focused and comfortable in early-stage environments
  • Curious and motivated by technical problem-solving
  • Comfortable working with iterative development
  • Driven by building robust, real-world products with meaningful impact

Application

Please send to fooks[@]sdu.dk

  • CV
  • Short cover letter outlining relevant experience

Of particular interest are candidates with experience productising a hardware–software prototype into a manufacturable MVP suitable for early production.
