I'm partnered with a well-funded defence technology startup developing next-generation autonomous systems for demanding real-world applications. As the company continues to scale, they're looking for a Power Electronics Engineer to design and develop the high-performance power electronics that sit at the heart of their autonomous platforms.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll take products from concept through schematic capture, PCB layout, bring-up, validation and system integration, working closely with firmware, mechanical and systems engineers to deliver reliable, high-performance hardware.
You'll be responsible for designing high-efficiency DC/DC converters, motor drive circuits and gate driver stages using Si and GaN technologies, creating multi-layer mixed-signal PCBs in Altium Designer, performing SPICE simulations and thermal analysis, debugging hardware in the lab, leading EMI/EMC investigations, and supporting the integration and deployment of complex electromechanical systems.
We're looking for engineers with at least three years of experience designing switch-mode power supplies or power conversion hardware, strong experience with schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium Designer, hands-on experience bringing up and debugging power electronics, and familiarity with SPICE simulation tools such as LTSpice, PSIM or SIMPLIS. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required.
Experience with BLDC or PMSM motor drives, TI C2000 or STM32 platforms, CAN, SPI, I²C or UART, magnetics design, thermal management, EMI/EMC compliance, or high-reliability electronics in aerospace, defence or industrial environments would be highly advantageous, but isn't essential.
In return, you'll join a genuinely engineering-first organisation where you'll have ownership from initial design through to deployment on real autonomous systems. The company offers a competitive salary, meaningful equity, comprehensive healthcare and the opportunity to work alongside an exceptional multidisciplinary engineering team tackling some of the most challenging problems in robotics and autonomy.
If you're interested in learning more, I'd be happy to arrange a confidential conversation.
