Job Description

GridIQ™ is building the next generation of grid intelligence for critical infrastructure, starting with wildfire prevention and distribution-level visibility. Today’s electrical grid operates with limited real-time awareness at the edge, where faults occur, outages begin, and wildfires ignite, forcing operators to react after failure using incomplete data. GridIQ addresses this gap with advanced sensing and analytics technology that enables continuous monitoring of distribution networks and delivers high-resolution, real-time insights to support faster, more informed decision-making. Designed for high-risk environments such as wildfire-prone regions, critical infrastructure, and microgrids, our platform integrates with existing systems to improve reliability, reduce risk, and modernize grid operations. We are building a more resilient, intelligent, and proactive energy infrastructure to help protect communities and support the future of electrification.

The Role

You will own the power and energy subsystem for our edge devices, including battery management, PMIC rail distribution and overall power budgeting. This is a hands-on individual contributor role at a small company. You will take designs from schematic to bench to field.

Responsibilities

  • Design the energy harvesting subsystem, battery control for Li-Ion pack, and the power distribution system
  • Select PMICs, DC-DC converters, and LDOs for downstream rails; manage sequencing
  • Own power budgeting across all operating modes and validate on the bench
  • Create PCB layout for power sections; support contract manufacturing hand-off with DFM documentation
  • Board bring-up and troubleshooting
  • Execute environmental validation (temperature, thermal endurance, transient immunity)
  • Bring advanced low-power system design to our edge device

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in power electronics with at least one product shipped to production
  • Experience with battery management ICs, charger topologies, and cell protection circuits
  • Proficiency in SMPS design (buck, boost, buck-boost) and simulation in LTspice or equivalent
  • Bench skills: oscilloscope, power analyzer, electronic load
  • Ability to create, and read schematics and PCB layouts

Nice to Have

  • Power quality analysis
  • Basic understanding of overcurrent protection, reclosers, and fault current
  • Current transformers
