Job Description
We build high-density battery systems for drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Our silicon-anode technology reaches up to 450 Wh/kg and extends flight times by 30 to 100% compared to conventional alternatives. Everything, simulation, prototyping, testing, production, happens in-house in Den Bosch.
We are post-MoD funding and scaling from an R&D team into a production organization. The work is real. The stakes are real. The batteries we ship end up on drones and fixed wing applications.
Why this role matters
Most companies promote their best engineer into a lead role, give them a team, and wonder why the output does not improve. We are not doing that.
Our electronics team is growing. Individual engineers doing good work is not enough anymore. We need a game plan that holds, shared standards, a review process that catches problems before they fly, and someone whose job it is to make the team fast and reliable, not just technically capable.
That is what this role is. Not a senior engineer with a team attached. A lead who builds the systems the team runs on.
What You Will Own
-
Lead a team of 9 electronics engineers. Set the direction and make sure the game plan gets executed. Not just writing.
-
Build and maintain engineering processes: design standards, Altium library management, schematic review gates, documentation discipline.
-
Own electrical system architecture for low-voltage drone battery systems.
-
Review schematics and PCB layouts in Altium Designer. Set the quality bar and hold the team to it.
-
Coach and develop the engineers on your team. Give direct feedback. Build individual capability over time.
-
Own cross-functional alignment with mechanical, manufacturing, and Firmware. Keep dependencies visible before they become blockers.
-
Hire the next electronics engineers as the team grows. Define what good looks like and find people who clear up that bar.
Job Requirements
-
6-8+ years in electronics engineering, including low-voltage power systems.
-
3+ years leading or managing an engineering team in a hardware environment.
-
Altium Designer depth: schematic design, component libraries, PCB layout review.
-
Built engineering processes from scratch and made people actually follow them.
-
Communicates clearly across disciplines: technical with engineers, practical with manufacturing, direct with leadership.
-
Low-ego leadership style. Still opens Altium when it matters.
-
Right to work in the Netherlands required. No visa sponsorship is available.
If you meet most of the above, apply anyway.
Nice to have
-
Battery management systems or power electronics background.
-
Drone, UAV, or aerospace hardware experience.
-
Scaled a hardware engineering team in a startup or scale-up environment.
What we offer
-
Salary: €5,300 €6,500 gross/month (based on experience).
-
38 paid days off per year (25 vacation + 13 ADV via CAO Metaal & Techniek).
-
8% holiday allowance, travel reimbursement, PMT pension.
-
Daily company lunch.
-
Real influence over team direction, process, and culture in a funded scale-up.
-
English-speaking, multinational team across 10+ nationalities.
