Job Description

Head of Robotics | Defence & Autonomous Systems

£150k–£180k

Location: Remote Germany

About the Role

I’m working with an innovative, mission-driven organisation operating at the forefront of defence technology and autonomous systems.

They are looking for a Head of Robotics to define and lead their robotics strategy across next-generation platforms — spanning autonomy, AI, and advanced robotic systems deployed in high-stakes environments.

This is a rare opportunity to shape technology that directly impacts national security, resilience, and the future of defence capabilities.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of robotics programmes across R&D and deployment
  • Drive development of autonomous and semi-autonomous systems for complex, real-world environments
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (AI, software, hardware, product) to deliver mission-critical solutions
  • Shape the long-term robotics roadmap in line with evolving defence needs and emerging threats
  • Stay ahead of advancements in robotics, autonomy, and defence tech ecosystems
  • Build and scale a high-performing, multidisciplinary team
  • Act as a key voice for robotics internally and with external stakeholders (partners, government, defence organisations)

What They’re Looking For

  • Experience leading or contributing to robotics or autonomous systems programmes (defence, aerospace, or similar high-reliability environments is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of robotics, AI, perception, control systems, or mechatronics
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels
  • Comfortable working in complex, fast-moving, and sometimes ambiguous environments
  • Strong leadership and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working with or alongside government, defence, or regulated environments is advantageous

Why This Role?

  • Work on cutting-edge defence and autonomy challenges with real-world impact
  • Influence the direction of next-generation robotic systems
  • Join a high-calibre, mission-focused team
  • Flexible working with strong backing and long-term vision
  • Competitive salary + potential equity
