Job Description

We are seeking two to three Hardware Engineers to support onsite data center operations in New Albany, Ohio. This is a hands-on, independent role requiring strong technical expertise in data center infrastructure and Layer 1 networking. This position is eligible for extension and conversion.

Responsibilities

  • (40%) Independently identify and respond to onsite risks and high-priority issues; manage troubleshooting, incident queues, shift turnovers, media processing, and vendor escorting.
  • (20%) Collaborate with Product Owners, Service Owners, and Subject Matter Experts to validate requirements and execute user stories related to critical system installs, data room moves, decommissions, reconfigurations, and power down events.
  • (20%) Execute diverse user stories across varying contexts; contribute to design decisions and develop expertise in OSI Model Layer 1 infrastructure, CI/CD pipeline automation, APIs, capacity planning, and inventory planning.
  • (10%) Demonstrate knowledge of data center building blocks and Layer 1 infrastructure; assess the impact of hardware/software changes on on-prem services and apply understanding of data center facilities and security components.
  • (5%) Define and evaluate team documentation for process improvement opportunities.
  • (5%) Actively participate in agile ceremonies, lead demos and presentations, support onboarding of new engineers, and engage in technology communities.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years of experience deploying and maintaining complex data center environments (new builds or major renovations/expansions)
  • Understanding of indoor/outdoor cable plants, including copper and fiber optic cabling (long and short range)
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure components: LAN/WAN/SAN, firewalls, Wintel/Lintel/UNIX servers, storage, wireless, and DAS
  • Familiarity with EIA/TIA, IEEE, NEC, and ISO standards for data centers and structured cabling
  • Strong documentation skills — able to capture architecture details, procedures, and relevant technical data
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative team player and self-starter
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, CIS, Networking, Telecommunications, or a related field — or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience designing, deploying, and maintaining complex data center environments
  • Data center and/or networking industry certifications (e.g., DCDC, CCNA, or similar)
