What you will be doing


  • Review, modify, test, validate, and release firmware and software updates for motor, generator, alternator, and MGU systems
  • Support software integration, debugging, and validation activities across embedded systems
  • Analyze system- and vehicle-level data to identify and resolve software, communication, and integration issues
  • Investigate and troubleshoot CAN communication concerns
  • Verify compliance with customer specifications and system requirements
  • Monitor and validate core system functionality and performance
  • Improve software robustness and reduce susceptibility to false fault detection
  • Collaborate with engineering SMEs to implement and adapt new and existing software features
  • Document software changes, validation results, findings, and release information
  • Provide onsite engineering support primarily in Columbus, Indiana, with flexibility to support other locations in town as needed

What you'll need to be successful

Essential:


  • Experience reviewing, modifying, validating, and releasing embedded software or firmware
  • Strong understanding of alternator, generator, motor, and aftertreatment system functionality
  • Hands-on experience with CAN communication analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to analyze system data and identify software, communication, and integration issues
  • Familiarity with requirements compliance and validation processes (including CEN specifications)
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, technical communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross‑functional engineering teams

Preferred:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Experience with embedded software development and validation
  • Knowledge of automotive, industrial, or off‑highway vehicle control systems
  • Experience using CAN analysis and diagnostic tools (e.g., CANalyzer, CANoe, Vehicle Spy, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with firmware release and configuration management processes
