About the Role
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Berkeley, California. The Field Application Engineer will operate Solideon's Aperture cell and be responsible for executing customer builds and contributing to software and hardware feature development. The role is collaborative and interfaces closely with robotics, software, and welding engineers.
Main Responsibilities

Operate the Aperture cell and oversee the timely completion of customer builds

Provide engineering support for design and process improvements

Design and execute commercial 3D printing using CAD and algorithmic design tools

Develop and optimize custom toolpath workflows

Analyze and resolve manufacturing discrepancies with the quality team

Assist in developing slicing algorithms

Lead safety and security practices for the Aperture cell
Requirements
-
Must be a US Person pursuant to the EAR and the ITAR definitions
-
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture, or equivalent experience

3+ years of experience with CAD/CAM systems

2+ years of experience with additive manufacturing processes

Experience with Grasshopper 3D
Nice to Haves

1+ years of customer-facing engineering experience

Programming or scripting experience in Python, C#, C++, or G-Code

Experience with CNC machining and subtractive processes

Hands-on experience with metal fabrication

Experience with industrial PLCs or IoT microcontrollers

Familiarity with ITAR, AS9100D, or ISO 9001 quality standards

Interests in art, architecture, design, or construction

Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma practices
