The role will cover technical support around:

  • PCIe high-speed interconnects
  • PCIe host adapters
  • PCIe switch-based systems
  • Non-transparent bridge applications
  • Transparent PCIe I/O expansion
  • PXIe / PCIe expansion use cases
  • Low-latency data movement
  • Multi-host and multi-system communication
  • PCIe-capable embedded modules and platforms
  • FPGA / SoC-FPGA platforms with PCIe support
  • PCIe / FMC hardware platforms
  • Industrial embedded computing applications

Role Overview

We are looking for a Field Application Engineer – PCIe Interconnect & Industrial Embedded Platforms to support Primionics in customer-facing technical activities for PCIe interconnect and PCIe-capable embedded computing solutions.

The FAE will act as a technical bridge between the customer, Primionics sales team, and OEM / partner technical teams .

The FAE will not independently recommend or finalize product selection . The role is to understand the customer’s technical requirement, capture the application details correctly, coordinate with OEM / partner technical teams, support technical clarification, and assist during evaluation, demo, and proof-of-concept stages.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Requirement Capture
  • Understand customer applications involving PCIe interconnect, high-speed data transfer, low-latency communication, PCIe expansion, multi-host systems, embedded computing, or industrial automation.
  • Capture technical details such as host system architecture, PCIe generation, lane width, operating system, distance requirement, topology, latency expectation, bandwidth requirement, endpoint devices, software environment, and application constraints.
  • Prepare structured requirement notes for review with Primionics and OEM / partner technical teams.
  • Identify missing technical inputs and coordinate with the customer to complete the requirement picture.
  • Avoid assumptions or overcommitments before OEM / partner technical validation.
OEM / Partner Technical Coordination
  • Work closely with OEM / partner technical teams for product fitment, feasibility checks, compatibility clarification, and configuration validation.
  • Coordinate technical questions related to PCIe adapters, switches, NTB use cases, transparent I/O expansion, software stack, PCIe cables, expansion boxes, and supported operating systems.
  • Coordinate only on embedded platforms and modules relevant to PCIe interconnect, high-speed data transfer, FPGA/SoC-FPGA connectivity, or industrial embedded computing use cases.
  • Ensure customer-facing technical responses are aligned with OEM / partner guidance.
Demo, Evaluation & PoC Support
  • Support customer demonstrations, proof-of-concept discussions, and technical evaluation activities.
  • Assist in preparing demo setups involving PCIe interconnect cards, PCIe switches, expansion chassis, PXIe/PCIe systems, and PCIe-capable embedded platforms.
  • Support installation coordination, basic configuration checks, documentation review, and first-level troubleshooting.
  • Collect demo feedback, test observations, system issues, and customer questions for escalation to OEM / partner technical teams.
Technical Documentation & Sales Support
  • Prepare application notes, technical summaries, requirement capture forms, configuration checklists, and comparison documents.
  • Support the Primionics sales team with technical inputs for quotations, proposals, and customer presentations.
  • Prepare customer-specific technical clarification documents based on OEM / partner-approved inputs.
  • Maintain internal notes on PCIe interconnect products, PCIe-capable embedded platforms, software stacks, typical applications, and technical limitations.

Application Focus Areas

The candidate will work on industrial and engineering applications such as:

  • PCIe-based high-speed interconnect
  • Low-latency data transfer
  • Multi-host communication
  • PCIe transparent I/O expansion
  • Non-transparent bridge applications
  • PCIe switch-based system expansion
  • PXIe / PCIe test-system expansion
  • High-speed DAQ and data movement
  • FPGA-to-host / FPGA-to-system connectivity
  • Industrial embedded computing
  • Real-time test and measurement systems
  • Simulation and hardware-in-the-loop systems
  • Machine vision and high-bandwidth sensor data movement
  • Storage expansion and high-throughput data pipelines
  • Industrial automation computing platforms

Required Skills
  • Good understanding of embedded systems, computer architecture, and industrial computing.
  • Basic to good understanding of PCIe concepts such as PCIe generations, lane width, endpoint/root complex, switching, bandwidth, latency, and expansion.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows system environments.
  • Ability to read datasheets, user manuals, block diagrams, software installation guides, and hardware configuration documents.
  • Understanding of interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, USB, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, MIPI, FMC, and GPIO.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customer engineering teams and OEM / partner technical teams.
  • Ability to prepare structured technical notes, issue reports, and requirement summaries.
  • Willingness to travel for customer visits, demos, exhibitions, and technical discussions.

Preferred Skills
  • Hands-on exposure to PCIe cards, PCIe switches, PCIe expansion chassis, PXIe systems, or high-speed embedded platforms.
  • Understanding of NTB, transparent I/O expansion, peer-to-peer transfer, shared memory, or low-latency communication concepts.
  • Exposure to FPGA or SoC-FPGA platforms with PCIe interface.
  • Experience with Linux drivers, device enumeration, PCIe device detection, BIOS/UEFI settings, or system-level debugging.
  • Exposure to real-time systems, test & measurement, DAQ, machine vision, simulation, HIL, storage, or industrial computing applications.
