Job Summary

Elbit is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Merrimack, NH. This position will research, plan, design, develop, analyze, and test a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including displays, sensors, processors, interface units, and other electronic devices; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment. We’re a small team handling a wide range of tasks, so you’ll be seeing a variety of different challenges in your typical work. The successful candidate will have the ability to function effectively and communicate in a dynamic, integrated product team environment, supporting a variety of programs.

Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Carries out specific project responsibilities as part of larger program objectives involved in the design and development of products, equipment, or processes
  • May design and layout items
  • Consults with higher-level engineering personnel to resolve more complex design alternatives
  • Utilizes electronic design tools such as schematic capture
  • Reviews and implements design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) objectives
  • Develops specifications, schematics, assembly drawings, and bill of materials, against which designs can be produced
  • Prepares sub-system performance specifications
  • Evaluates and selects optimum design alternatives
  • Determines design feasibility and ensures that product designs are competitive
  • Provides direction to others who determine appropriate materials and processes for specific component applications
  • Leads or conducts experiments to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes. execute test and troubleshooting activity
  • Evaluates engineering prototypes and translates experimental results into design criteria
  • Conducts computer simulations to analyze, test, or design products
  • Develops task inputs to engineering project plans and maintains liaison with other departments of the organization.
  • Responds to customer engineering queries and advises others on engineering information relevant to the organization's product capabilities
  • Provide technical presentation support and consultation to marketing
  • Represent the engineering unit in customer or field force contacts, troubleshoots customer application problems
  • Utilizes project planning and monitoring methods to ensure timely completion. Assume responsibility for the successful completion (Schedule, Performance, Cost) of systems and sub-systems
  • Performs preliminary engineering necessary to confirm plans and programs
  • Assists in assuring the technical soundness of engineering programs
  • Supports the manufacturing process in resolving design problems
  • Collaborates with purchasing in obtaining quotations or bids and recommends the selection of vendors
  • Prepares engineering specifications for major purchases
  • Prepares reports of field tests, start-ups, or installations as required, and writes technical instructions
  • Supervises the work of other engineering personnel
  • Contributes to process improvements
  • Develop total cost of ownership models for a complete system, based upon predicted reliability, operational usage, and environmental factors.
  • Recommends the selection of appropriate and cost-efficient vendors to management
  • Contributes to the development and improvement of packaging techniques to meet quality, function, and cost standards.

Skills And Abilities

  • Experience with one of the following: Mentor Graphics, Cadence, and/or Altium
  • Required experience in one or more of the following areas: High-speed digital design – FPGA and Microprocessors, small low-power electronics used in battery-powered equipment, and/or understanding of principles of power management and low-voltage power distribution
  • Experience in working with limited size, power, and weight optimization based on requested capabilities and power consumption requirements
  • Experience with analog/mixed signal design
  • Ability to travel 10%
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with one or more SI/PI PCB analysis tools, such as: Mentor Graphics and PC layout tools for the Expedition workflow, LT SPICE, digital interfaces (I2C, USB, MIPI, SPI, DisplayPort), visible light and IR cameras and sensors, and/or other electro-optical devices
  • Experience with DoD/MIL specifications, standards, and processes

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience in the industry (defense/government contractor experience preferred but not required)
  • Master's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
