Job Description
Our client is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer 3 (Principal Engineer – Embedded Cryptographic Software) to join the Software and Digital Technologies team. In this role, you will design, develop, integrate, and test embedded cryptographic software supporting advanced mission-critical systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in an Agile environment to deliver secure, high-performance embedded software solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded cryptographic software applications.

Architect and develop embedded and real-time software systems.
-
Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Hardware, Digital Engineering, and Integration & Test teams.

Develop secure software for embedded platforms using Agile methodologies.
-
Analyze software and system requirements to resolve technical challenges.
-
Implement and integrate cryptographic mechanisms using software libraries.
-
Integrate low-level firmware with complex real-time, multi-threaded embedded applications.
-
Participate throughout the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements through testing.
-
Perform software debugging, validation, and performance optimization.
-
Utilize Jira, Bitbucket, Git, and Agile development practices.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or another STEM discipline with 5+ years of experience, OR

Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, OR
-
PhD with 1+ year of experience.

Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance (Required).

Strong programming experience in C/C++.

Experience with HAIPE, OTNK, and/or IKE.

Experience implementing cryptographic mechanisms using software libraries.

Experience with Yocto/PetaLinux or Wind River Linux.

Experience with Xilinx platforms (Zynq, UltraScale+, Versal).

Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and common network configurations.

Experience with the complete software development lifecycle.

Experience integrating firmware and software in real-time embedded systems.

Experience developing and debugging embedded real-time applications.
-
Experience using Jira, Bitbucket, Git, and Agile methodologies.

Ability to work full-time onsite in Rancho Carmel, San Diego, CA.

Experience with Rust.
