Position Overview
eNGINE is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to support the development and maintenance of Linux-based embedded platforms used in connected products. This engineer will play a key role in operating system maintenance, hardware integration, cybersecurity remediation, and overall platform stability. The ideal candidate brings strong Embedded Linux expertise, enjoys troubleshooting complex system-level issues, and is comfortable working across software, hardware, and cybersecurity disciplines.
This position offers the opportunity to work on next-generation embedded systems while contributing to product reliability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
Responsibilities

Maintain and enhance Embedded Linux platforms, including kernel updates, operating system maintenance, package management, and bootloader modifications.

Investigate and resolve complex issues found in deployed products, including system crashes, memory utilization concerns, and hardware/software interaction problems.

Support cybersecurity initiatives by evaluating software vulnerabilities, implementing security updates, and assisting with code remediation efforts.

Develop and maintain Yocto-based build environments used to generate custom Linux distributions.

Adapt Board Support Packages (BSPs) to accommodate hardware revisions, component changes, and platform enhancements.

Create automation scripts to improve testing, continuous integration workflows, system validation, and data collection activities.

Collaborate with hardware, software, quality, and product teams to ensure reliable system integration and product performance.

Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

5+ years of professional experience working with Embedded Linux systems.

Experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining Linux distributions on embedded hardware platforms.

Strong development experience using C/C++ in Linux environments.

Proficiency with Python scripting and automation.

Hands-on experience with embedded hardware bring-up and platform integration.

Experience in the medical device industry

Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills at both the operating system and hardware interface levels.
Preferred Experience

Deep experience with the Yocto Project and creation of custom Linux distributions.

Linux kernel customization and device driver development.

U-Boot configuration, customization, and maintenance.

Experience integrating wireless technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cellular communications.

Background working within regulated industries such as medical devices, aerospace, industrial automation, or similar environments.

Familiarity with secure boot processes, software vulnerability remediation, and embedded cybersecurity best practices.
