Job Description

Principal Embedded / Hardware Systems Engineer

Austin, TX | Early-stage industrial technology company

I’m supporting a confidential search for a senior/principal-level embedded systems engineer to join an early-stage industrial technology company building rugged wireless sensor products for transportation and heavy industrial environments.

This is a high-ownership role suited to someone who has helped take low-power connected hardware from concept through prototype, validation, production, and field deployment.

The work sits at the intersection of:

  • Low-power embedded systems
  • Wireless IoT sensor platforms
  • BLE / Nordic / proprietary RF
  • Embedded C/C++ firmware
  • PCB design, board bring-up, and hardware validation
  • RF, antennas, gateways, and field connectivity
  • Sensor integration and signal quality
  • OTA updates for deployed devices
  • Ruggedized hardware for real-world industrial environments
  • Compliance / validation / manufacturing support

The strongest fit would likely come from a background in industrial IoT, wireless sensors, condition monitoring, asset tracking, environmental monitoring, connected hardware, telemetry, or battery-powered embedded products.

This is not a narrow firmware-only role. The company needs someone comfortable operating across the full embedded hardware system - firmware, electronics, RF, sensors, power, test, production, and field reliability.

The opportunity can develop into a technical leadership role as the team scales but would also suit someone who wants to remain in a very senior hands-on IC.

Ideal Background:

  • 8+ years in embedded systems, firmware, hardware, or electrical engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with low-power / battery-powered products
  • BLE / Nordic experience highly relevant
  • Experience with sensors, gateways, RF, or connected devices
  • Comfortable with C/C++, RTOS or bare-metal systems
  • Strong debugging skills across hardware and firmware
  • Track record taking products into production, not just prototype stage
  • Bonus: LoRa, LTE-M, NB-IoT, Zephyr, vibration analysis, predictive maintenance, rail, fleet, or industrial monitoring

This is a Full-Time position, based out of Austin.
