Role Summary

Zhone Technologies is seeking Embedded Software Trainees to join the Zhone Engineering Academy program. This role is designed for early-career engineers who are passionate about embedded systems and networking technologies.

As a trainee, you will receive structured training and hands-on project experience to develop the skills required for embedded software development on telecom and network access products such as OLT, Switch, and CPE platforms.

Successful trainees will have the opportunity to be evaluated for full-time Embedded Software Engineer positions upon program completion.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development & Learning

• Participate in the development of embedded software components using C/C++
• Learn and support development in embedded Linux environments
• Assist in debugging, feature implementation, and system integration
• Gain exposure to networking protocols and telecom technologies.
  
  

Testing & Validation

• Support testing and debugging activities for embedded systems
• Assist in validating software features in lab and real scenarios
• Learn basic automation and system validation concepts.
  
  

Collaboration & Engineering Practices

• Work closely with Development, QA, and Hardware teams
• Participate in Agile/Scrum activities and team discussions
• Follow engineering practices including version control, code review, and documentation.
  
  

Training Scope

Trainees Will Receive Structured Training In

• Embedded C/C++ programming
• Linux for embedded systems
• Networking fundamentals
• Hardware debugging basics
• Git workflow, CI/CD concepts, and secure coding practices
• Test design and system validation fundamentals.
  
  

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or final-year student) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics / Telecommunications or related fields
• 0–2 years of experience or equivalent academic/project experience.
• Good English communication skills.
  
  

Technical Skills

• Basic knowledge of C/C++ programming
• Basic understanding of microcontrollers (MCUs) and operating systems (Linux is a plus).
• Basic understanding of networking concepts.

• Strong willingness to learn and grow in embedded systems
• Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
