Embedded Software Team Leader

As the Embedded Software Team Leader, you will lead a talented team of engineers with diverse technical specialisms while remaining hands-on with embedded software development. The role combines technical leadership, people management, and project delivery, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both engineering and team development.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of embedded software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.

Design, develop, and maintain robust embedded software solutions, ensuring high standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

Take ownership of complex software projects, contributing to system design, implementation, testing, and debugging activities.

Drive best practices in embedded software development, including code reviews, version control, software architecture, and development processes.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery against technical, budgetary, and timescale objectives.

Encourage innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across the engineering function.
Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience in embedded software development.

Previous experience leading, mentoring, or managing engineers, or acting as the technical lead across multiple projects.

Strong understanding of project delivery, including balancing technical requirements, budgets, and deadlines.

Excellent C/C++ programming skills, with the ability to work across embedded software and firmware environments.

Experience with hardware communication protocols such as CAN, I²C, SPI, and similar interfaces.

Solid understanding of embedded software development lifecycles and Agile methodologies, including Scrum practices.

Experience developing IoT-enabled products or applications would be highly advantageous.
