Boschung Mecatronic AG is the technology-driven entity within the Boschung Group responsible for the engineering, production, sales, and after-sales of advanced electronic, mechatronic, and software systems dedicated to the detection and management of road and airport surface conditions. Our technologies combine sensors, embedded electronics, connectivity, and intelligent software platforms deployed on critical infrastructures worldwide. Looking to strengthen our Hardware R&D team, Boschung Mecatronic AG is looking for an experienced and hands-on Embedded Hardware Engineer with strong expertise in embedded software development, microcontrollers, and electronic systems integration. Passionate about innovation and product development, you will contribute to the design and development of the next generation of Boschung’s intelligent technologies.

Your tasks

• Analyze customer requirements and translate them into technical specifications and validation plans.
• Develop embedded software for microcontrollers (Bare Metal and/or RTOS) to control peripherals, sensors, and communication interfaces.
• Contribute to the hardware and software architecture of new products to ensure optimal integration between electronics and firmware.
• Integrate and implement various communication interfaces such as RS-485, CAN Bus, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), UART, SPI, I²C, USB, and Ethernet, depending on project requirements.
• Contribute to the development of low-level interfaces with various sensors, actuators, and communication modules.
• Carry out the prototyping, debugging, and validation phases using laboratory instruments (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, signal generator, etc.).
• Ensure the quality and traceability of developments through comprehensive technical documentation, design reviews, and test campaigns.
• Participate in the maintenance and evolution of existing products, particularly in the context of replacing obsolete components.
• Collaborate closely with the Software, Mechanical, and Production teams during the various phases of projects.

Your profile

• Bachelor or Master Degree as in electrical engineering, embedded computing, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in embedded systems development.
• Proven experience in software development for microcontrollers (required) using C/C++.
• Experience with STM, PIC, dsPIC, or equivalent microcontrollers.
• Proficiency in several embedded communication protocols, such as:

- RS-485 / Modbus

- CAN Bus

- Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)

- UART

- SPI

- I²C

- USB and/or Ethernet

• Knowledge of embedded debugging tools (JTAG, SWD, daisy chaining, J-Link or equivalent).
• Experience with a real-time operating system (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX, etc.) is a plus.
• Experience in FPGA development (VHDL) is a plus.
• Knowledge of MQTT protocols or wireless communications is a plus.
• Knowledge of Machine Learning (ML) is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills, ability to work independently, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Fluent in French and good knowledge of English; German is a plus.
