Job Description

As Optics11 continues to grow, we are looking for an Electronic Engineer (Hardware) to support the development of electronic hardware and subsystems for advanced opto-electronic measurement systems.

At Optics11, we develop cutting-edge fiber-optic sensing solutions that make critical infrastructure and underwater security systems smarter, safer, and more reliable.

In this role, you will design, develop, test, and support analog, digital, mixed-signal, power, sensor, and interface electronics used in demanding operational environments. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will contribute to electronic hardware development from concept through verification and product release.

You will apply sound engineering practices, structured problem-solving, and technical analysis to develop reliable, manufacturable, and high-quality electronic solutions that meet performance and lifecycle requirements.

What you'll do:

  • Design and develop electronic circuits, PCBAs, hardware architectures, and subsystems in line with system requirements and product objectives.
  • Support the development of analog, digital, mixed-signal, power, sensor, and interface electronics from concept through verification and product release.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics, specifications, interface definitions, test procedures, design reports, and verification evidence.
  • Support the integration of electronic hardware into multidisciplinary products and contribute to functional, performance, environmental, integration, and qualification testing.
  • Develop and execute hardware verification activities, analyze test results, and identify design improvements related to performance, reliability, robustness, and design margins.
  • Apply structured problem-solving, engineering analysis, and trade-off studies to investigate circuit behavior, measurement data, failure mechanisms, defects, and hardware issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers across disciplines, participate in design reviews and technical investigations, and communicate technical information clearly through documentation, presentations, and engineering discussions.
  • Plan and execute assigned work independently within agreed priorities, milestones, quality expectations, and timelines, while proactively communicating progress, risks, dependencies, and technical issues.
  • Contribute to reliable, maintainable, and manufacturable electronic solutions by applying lessons learned, supporting root cause analysis, sharing knowledge, and improving engineering processes and product quality.

Why Join Us?

  • Join one of Europe’s most promising deep-tech scale-ups.
  • Shape the future of a rapidly growing multidisciplinary R&D organization.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Enjoy regular team activities and company events.
  • Fresh team lunches provided3 times/ week.

Qualifications:

  • BSc or MSc in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 2–5 years of experience in electronic hardware development within a product development environment.
  • Experience in Altium Designer (schematic and layout), and electronic circuit simulation with LTSpice, or similar.
  • Experience with mixed-signal and analog electronics (e.g. ADC, DAC, power supplies.
  • Experience with digital circuit design for MCU, FPGA, and data interfaces (LVDS, ETH, PCIe).
  • Hands-on soldering/desoldering experience for surface-mount components and creating custom cable assemblies.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and electronic test equipment.
  • Experience creating technical documentation and engineering reports.
  • Strong communication skills in English and collaborative working style.
  • Eligible for EU/NATO security clearance.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with EMC-aware electronic design practices.
  • Experience with opto-electronic (e.g. photodiode front ends, laser drivers), sensor, instrumentation, or defense-related products.
  • Experience supporting environmental qualification testing.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and hardware/software integration.
  • Experience with CE/FCC, military, or industrial compliance standards.
