Overview
Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Staff Firmware Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. The role will be responsible for Bluetooth Controller firmware. This position reports to the Director of Development Engineering.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties
- Define Bluetooth Firmware architecture from BT standards
- Technically lead team on design, methodology in Bluetooth/Wireless/Embedded domain
- Coordinate technically with ASIC, Systems and QA teams for debugging Bluetooth/Wireless issues
- Own fixing issues raised by QA and Customers
- Develop innovative solutions for customer and internal features
- Participate in Architecture reviews and contribute to new features as well as architecture changes
- Deep involvement in the development and troubleshooting of new features planned for Bluetooth and related technologies

Interact with the customer on regular basis and collaborate for new product/feature launches with production quality
- Strong in C programming, Assembly and Embedded OS/RTOS and scripting languages like Perl, Python, etc
- Working knowledge of BT firmware
- Strong knowledge of communication systems and Wireless protocols, preferably Bluetooth, Zigbee Or any Wireless technology MAC
- Deep understanding of wireless stack flow
- Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment to complete projects on time with minimal guidance
- Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
- Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
- Resourceful and able to solve complex problems through adaptation of existing technology and investigation of new technology with a solid understanding of product architecture
- Analytical and able to make informed decisions based on experience
- Sets clear expectations and objectives, and brings parties together to drive key initiatives
- Ability to work within a diverse team and mentor developing team members

- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent
- 12 years of experience in IP design
- Proven experience in wireless product development
- Familiar with at least one of the followings: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MAC architecture, and Security architecture
- Prior working experience with
- Debuggers: Logic Analyzer, Oscilloscopes, JTAG Debuggers/gdb or equivalent
- Bug Tracking Tools: JIRA, Bugzilla, ClearQuest, etc
- SCM Tools: GIT, SVN, ClearCase, etc
- Experience with tapeout of new product

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
