The associate will be leading a group of teams of automation engineers working on the latest innovation projects of Staples’ Supply Chain with the goal of improving the efficiency and performance of our warehouses. The associate will be responsible that their teams are analyzing, designing, developing, testing, debugging, and implementing solutions accurately, on time, and effectively. By working with their management, the associate will also be responsible for influencing business strategy to determine the highest impact projects to focus on. The associate will ensure that their team is working on the highest priority initiatives as determined by the business and work with other teams to ensure that all necessary components are accounted for. The associate will also be responsible for determining the current issues that the fulfillment centers experience and suggest new solutions that solve these problems.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work with their management to influence business strategy to determine the highest impact projects that their team should focus on
- Ensure that their teams are aligned on business strategy to ensure that their associates are working on these highest priority initiatives
- Manage their team to ensure that they are developing, designing, and implementing solutions effectively, on time, and as efficiently as possible
- Study the current state of the fulfillment centers to determine inefficient processes or other areas that can be improved
- Determine solutions for the problems that either improve the efficiency or performance of the fulfillment center and develop detailed designs that outline the problem and solution
- Working with their team and other teams, analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and implement these solutions to improve the efficiency and performance of our fulfillment centers
- Manage projects from start to finish that implement the automation and robotic projects that they are working on
- Mentor more junior associates in the development process
- Quickly diagnose and troubleshoot issues that occur in both live production environments and testing environments
- Understand complex processes in topics such as logistics, warehouse management, automation, and robotics
- Work closely with cross functional teams

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Robotics, Software Engineering, Data Science or equivalent work experience.

8+ years of experience in Automation Engineering.
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Robotics, Software Engineering, Data Science
- Experience managing a team of automation engineers focused on implementing automation and robotic solutions within warehouses

Experience conducting full performance appraisals and coaching for direct reports

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

What we're looking for
At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
