As a Senior FPGA Engineer in the Software Group in Power Solution, you will be a partner with engineering teams to develop power delivery system for semiconductor manufacturing process. In this role, you will report to one of the SW Team managers.
We are looking for a candidate to bring FPGA experience to our team, at the same time, we are offering great learning opportunities in Python, embedded C++ development, embedded OS development, system-level architecture, digital signal processing and control system to support the candidates in their career path.
You Will Make an Impact By:
- Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs FPGA implementations controlling the power supplies delivering advanced control to plasma in semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Creates, updates, and maintains test benches for various FPGA systems and subsystems to validate the behaviors against specifications and real-world applications.
- Develops simulations and test bench models to prototype proof-of-concepts of new advanced algorithm before implementations.
- Analyzes and refactors FPGA designs to meet timing and resources utilization constraints for future growth in the system-level architecture.
- Consumes and understand PCB schematics to aid the FPGA development.
- Collaborates with embedded developers to implement complex system-level architecture, like high-speed high-payload, data transfers across FPGAs, processors, memories, storage devices and external devices through high-speed data transfer protocols.
- Collaborates and supports other functional teams, like system, reliability, manufacturing, field application engineers to troubleshoot, guide, support and test our products.
- Produces maintainable design documents providing technical information about designs to facilitate rapid future development.
- Follows the SW development process to work collaboratively to design, prototype, implement, test, validate, review, debug embedded system architectures with team members.
- Consumes and creates engineering requirement specification to fulfill customer needs in accordance with business strategies.

- Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience and 4+ years of related experience in FPGA
- Knowledge of FPGA development for High Gate Count FPGAs required
- Experience of VHDL, Verilog, IP core integration and Matlab Simulink
- Familiar with and practices Agile and continuous integration concept, like how to use Jenkins automation
- Hands-on laboratory experience and familiarity with electronic test equipment required
- Basic office skills, like interacting with corporate ERP systems, outlook and office suite

- Domestic & international travel (occasional)
- Occasional work hour flexibility to accommodate international conferencing and deadlines
- Work onsite in High Power, Rochester, NY facility at least 4 days a week
- Constantly operates computers, test equipment and other office productivity machinery

Salary Pay Range: $110,000 - 155,000 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.
Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].

What we're looking for
At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
