Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech is a leading European quantum computing company. We deliver cutting-edge analog and digital-analog quantum computing platforms to top-tier research institutions and industrial partners. Our mission is to bring practical quantum advantage to the world through high-performance systems and expert services.

As a Quantum Systems Integrator, you will own the end-to-end integration of superconducting quantum computing systems, bridging the gap between system design and deployment. You will lead the assembly, validation, and optimization of quantum hardware, ensuring reliable operation both in-house and at client sites.

Key Responsibilities:

System Integration & Deployment:

  • Lead the integration of superconducting quantum setups: racks, cryostats, qubit wiring, and electronics.
  • Collaborate with deployment technicians: define assembly plans, guide mounting, review cabling, and ensure standards are met.
  • Perform advanced debugging using VNA, TDR, resistance measurements, and other electrical/mechanical tests.

Design & Simulation:

  • Carry out electromagnetic and thermal simulations in COMSOL for shielding and packaging.
  • Design and validate custom filters (LPFs, RCRC chains) and cryogenic components in collaboration with suppliers.
  • Contribute to mechanical design (e.g. Inventor models of thermalization parts, IR absorber experiments).

Project Planning & Site Studies:

  • Conduct site studies for new deployments (power, cooling, space, safety requirements).
  • Generate system diagrams, rack layouts, bills of materials (BOM), timelines, and budget estimations.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer:

  • Write and maintain user manuals, assembly guides, and debugging playbooks.
  • Contribute to standardization and automation of documentation (templates, AI-assisted manuals).
  • Provide reports on integration findings, issues, and long-term system improvements.

Collaboration:

  • Act as a bridge between physics, engineering, suppliers, and clients.
  • Participate in design reviews and bring deployment/integration perspective to improve scalability and maintainability.

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: PhD or MSc in Physics (Quantum/Condensed Matter preferred), or MSc in Telecommunications/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with strong physics background.

Skills:

  • Hands-on lab experience with cryogenics, RF systems, or superconducting circuits.
  • Strong debugging mindset across electronics, RF, and mechanical domains.
  • Experience with COMSOL (thermal/electromagnetic), LTSpice, and CAD tools (Inventor/SolidWorks).
  • Programming ability in Python for measurement automation.
  • Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Profile:

  • Experience measuring superconducting qubits or quantum hardware.
  • Previous exposure to multi-disciplinary system integration (electronics + cryogenics + software).
  • Motivated by the bigger picture of building quantum computers, not only component-level tasks.
  • Comfortable mentoring technicians and working across multiple roles in a fast-moving startup.

What we offer:

  • Work on cutting-edge quantum hardware deployments across Europe.
  • A unique role combining physics, engineering, and system ownership.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic, international team of physicists and engineers.
  • Flexible work setup (Barcelona HQ with European travel).

Please mention your availability and whether you require an EU work permit in your application.
