Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop test Scripts in C# and Python to validate firmware that runs on optical Transceivers and supporting products.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to generate requirements and design new test coverage for new product Introduction, (NPI) features.
- Define and design test coverage and test scripts per product requirements and specifications.
- Qualify new test instrument and integrate them into test software platform.
- Maintain test system performance and readiness.
- Follow software development process for test script, test software platform development and release.
- Fulfill test request and provide test report timely and provide test review and test explanation upon request.
- Testing and result analysis
- Work closely with other team member on product or customer issue verification and debugging.
- Participate project and team meeting to provide feedback and opinion on test related information and new ideas.

Work with other test members to keep test script and test document up to date with high quality.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. Master’s degree preferred but not required.
- Strong C# and Python programming language skills, Git version Control and Familiarity with C, C++ programming languages is a plus.
- Experience with optics and signal processing is a plus.
- Knowledge of common buses and communication protocols (e.g. UART, I2C, SPI, interfaces, etc.)
- Familiarity with instrument and hardware control such as digital I/O, timers, ADCs, UARTs, low power modes, etc.
- Experience working at the hardware/software interface: reading and writing registers, comfortable with hardware specs.
- Comfortable using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, etc.
- Hands-on (practical) or lab experience with hardware.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Work effectively with other members of II-VI core team for module development.
- This position is on-site
- May require occasional off-site meetings or travel
- Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
- Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job

May require occasional overtime and flexibility in work hours to accommodate the executive’s needs
- Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or conducting meetings.
- Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
- Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.

Mobility within the office environment to attend meetings or interact with colleagues.

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

What we're looking for
At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
