We’re looking for a talented Firmware Engineer to help drive innovation in our next-generation dispensing and IoT systems. In this role, you’ll do more than just write code—you’ll help shape the architecture, design cutting-edge solutions, and bring ideas to life through Proof of Concepts that push the boundaries of what’s possible in connected technology.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate hardware and software developed across multiple divisions, and collaborate with the software engineers to deliver full-stack IoT end node solutions. As part of an Agile SCRUM team, you’ll help define user stories, contribute to sprint planning, and apply DevOps best practices to deliver high-quality, scalable firmware in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
🔧 What You’ll Do
- Design, code, support architectures, document designs, and create Proof of Concepts for developing applications.
- Collaborate with team members to integrate software and hardware developed by other divisions.
- Work with the software team to integrate full-stack IoT end node solutions.
- Participate in the SCRUM/Agile software development process.
- Define and document User Stories, including Acceptance Criteria, with product owners.

Apply DevOps practices to work efficiently with multidisciplinary teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in C or C++ embedded firmware development.
- Experience with embedded RTOS and bare-metal development.
- Proficiency in serial communication protocols such as UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Experience in device driver development.
- Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers such as ST Micro, NXP, or Silicon Labs EFM.

Experience with Modbus RTU/TCP or CANBus.
- Experience in supporting Embedded Firmware Platform and Board Support Package development.
- Proficiency in two or more of the following areas: bootstrap loader, embedded file systems, system controls, embedded Linux.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with board layout and design.
- Scripting experience with Python or Bash for testing is a plus.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $68.00/hr.

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

What we're looking for
At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
